Our trip to Switzerland started on Thursday, June 29, 2000. And, it actually started in London. We caught a flight on Thursday night and quickly found ourself in the middle of a Friday.

Friday, June 30

We took the tube from Heathrow to Knightsbridge looking for our Hotel, the Radisson Vanderbilt. The plan was to get a nice hotel where we could sleep off the jet lag in prepartion for the short hop to Switzerland. I had a vague idea where it was, but we overshot the hotel, getting out at Knightsbridge when the hotel was actually across the street from the Gloucester Road stop. Look at the map below if you are curious:

We didn't really know nor care that we'd missed the optimal stop. We were exhausted and just wanted to get to our hotel. So, we caught a taxi and let him drive us to the hotel. Later we walked this same stretch in about 20 minutes.

That night we walked out to look for a restaurant in Kensington (see the pen line in the map above). Dinner was great at a very English, very small, very quaint, very homey place called Fiona's. Fiona sat down with us at the table and basically cooked what we asked for.

After dinner we strolled in Hyde Park before heading back to the hotel for some serious shut-eye.
